GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH

The Archives Office is available to receive requests for genealogical research.

It is an opportunity to contribute to the broader historical endeavors of the local community. The information found in the sacramental records will tell if a person was a baptized Catholic and note the church where their sacraments were received. The Diocesan Archives only has genealogical information pertaining to sacramental records.

REQUESTING GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH

All requests for genealogical research are to be made by letter or email. The actual research will be done by diocesan or parish staff.

The request should include:  name of the person, date of birth, date of Sacrament, church where the sacrament was received and the parents’ Names.

The request is limited to two names at one time. Availability for research is dependent on the work responsibilities in the Archives and parish offices.

When genealogical information is located, the requestor will receive a copy of the information, along with a letter from the Archives Office.  Sacramental certificates are not provided for genealogical requests.

There is no fee for the genealogical research.  Donations are accepted by the Archives Office.
